Features: This book collects some articles on the history of maritime studies from the past one to two decades. My original research focus was on the socio-economic history of the Ming and Qing dynasties. However, because both my master's and doctoral theses were related to international trade, I unknowingly found myself delving into the field of maritime history. The ocean is infinitely vast, and the issues involved in maritime history are also boundless. Since I have not been employed in the historical academia for a long time and have not interacted frequently with mainstream scholars locally, I have often had to explore independently, which has inevitably led to me being somewhat whimsical and wandering in all directions. However, fate has been kind to me, and along the way, I have been inspired by many friends, and I have also had the opportunity to access many valuable materials and information. At times, I even had the chance to drift at sea. Due to the countless wonders of the sea, I often linger and hesitate, making it impossible for me to complete a comprehensive monograph on the history of maritime studies in East Asia that I had long wanted to write. Now, taking the opportunity to publish this collection of essays, I have rewritten a lecture and welcome your feedback.
