During the "Tenth Five-Year Plan" period, the transportation industry in Jiangsu Province experienced rapid development, with a cumulative construction of 1,800 km of expressways and 1,580 km of high-grade waterways. By the end of 2005, the province's expressway network had reached 2,886 km, ranking third in the country, while its navigable waterway network had expanded to 24,800 km, also ranking among the top in the nation. While carrying out transportation construction work, the traffic engineering builders in the province followed the general approach of "focusing on models, promotion, and popularization," actively participating in the campaign to improve the quality of transportation engineering. They accumulated extensive experience, elevated the level of transportation engineering quality in Jiangsu Province, and maintained the overall quality of engineering projects at a leading national level. This collection of papers reflects the achievements and experiences of the traffic engineering builders in Jiangsu Province during the three years after the "Tenth Five-Year Plan" (2003–2005), guided by the scientific development concept and centered on engineering construction quality. The papers cover aspects such as engineering management, quality supervision, research, survey and design, construction, supervision, maintenance, safety, and environmental protection. A total of 150 papers are collected, amounting to approximately 1.4 million words. This collection is suitable for technical personnel engaged in transportation engineering construction, including management, quality supervision, research, design, construction, and supervision, as well as for reference by faculty and students in university departments of roads, bridges, and waterways.
