"Impression Liu Sanjie" is a large-scale live landscape performance staged on a two-kilometer stretch of the Lijiang River in the Shutong Mountain section of Yangshuo, Guilin, Guangxi. With twelve mountain peaks and the sky as its backdrop, it integrates Liu Sanjie's folk songs, Guangxi ethnic customs, and Guilin's landscape, among other elements. The director of the performance is Zhang Yimou, and it was officially premiered in Guilin, Guangxi, on March 20, 2004. By 2008, "Impression Liu Sanjie" had accumulated 2,000 performances, with an audience of up to 3 million and box office revenue as high as 600 million yuan.
Because it is a live landscape performance, lighting is the most direct element supporting this super-scale real-scene stage. "Impression Liu Sanjie" also embodies a thoroughly luxurious grandeur, using the largest-scale environmental art lighting project in China at present and a unique smoke effect project to create a poetic and dreamlike visual effect. For the first time in history, Guilin's landscape allows people to appreciate beauty that is graceful, soft, delicate, gorgeous, and mysterious under the lights. To a large extent, "Impression Liu Sanjie" is a truly luxurious lantern festival, constructing an unprecedentedly spectacular sacred hall of stage lighting art and elevating Guilin's landscape from a new perspective.
Scenic spot features: the world's largest live landscape performance, a combination of ethnic and modern elements, and a visual feast.
Visiting time: one show in the off-season and two shows in the peak season. The performance lasts about 1 hour. The usual start time is 20:00, depending on the session.
As the world's largest live landscape theater, Impression Liu Sanjie features a two-kilometer-radius stretch of the Lijiang River in the Shutong Mountain section of Yangshuo, twelve background mountain peaks, and the vast boundless sky, forming the largest landscape theater in the world to date. The audience seating of Impression Liu Sanjie is shaped like green terraced fields, offering a 180-degree panoramic view where visitors can watch the scenery and performance across a two-kilometer area on the river. The performance takes Impression Liu Sanjie as its overall theme! This masterpiece directed by Zhang Yimou is something you must go and appreciate!
