Features: This book is a special collection from the Department of Rare Books and Manuscripts at the National Library of China, one of the selected inscriptions and stone rubbings once owned by Liang Qichao. The collection features famous inscriptions and stone rubbings created by Liang Qichao, with exquisite rubbings, primarily using Ming or Qing Dynasty (Qianlong and Jiaqing reigns) editions. It also includes Liang Ren Gong's own inscriptions, providing historical and literary context. This collection is beneficial for calligraphy enthusiasts to study ancient classics, for those interested in stone inscriptions and literature to cross-reference and verify, and for scholars researching Liang Ren Gong to broaden their perspectives and uncover new historical facts.
This specific volume is the "Kong Biao Stele." The stele's date of inscription is worn away, but Kong Biao passed away on the 13th day of the 7th month of the Jianning 4th year (171 AD) during the Eastern Han Dynasty. The stele is located in the Confucius Temple in Qufu, Shandong. It is written in clerical script. The top is inscribed in seal script as "Han Gu Boling Taishou Kong Fu Jun Stele," and the bottom has names that are missing in rubbings. This is a mounted and bound copy, consisting of sixteen sections, with a height of 27 cm and a width of 15 cm. Liang Qichao wrote the title label and added the top inscription. The seals include: "Yinbing Room," "Liang Ren Gong's Handwriting After 50 Years," "Yinbing Room Collection," "Materials Obtained from Stone Inscriptions," "Zhao's Materials Collection," "Liang Ren Gong," "Temporarily Staying at Guochi with Ge Chengxiu," "Liang Qichao," and "Qichao."
This copy was once owned by Zhao Shucun and Liang Qichao, with a postscript by Liang Qichao attached at the end. It is a Qing Dynasty (Jiaqing and Daoguang reigns) rubbing, visible in the fifth line as the lower part of the character "yong" in the phrase "yong Gao Yao," and the sixth line as the upper part of the character "xiao" in the phrase "xiao Si Xiong."
