Features: Emperor Li Longji of the Tang Dynasty, Li Longji, practiced self-cultivation and accumulated strength, successively suppressed the rebellions of Empress Wei and Princess Taiping, took the imperial seal from his father, and ascended the throne. After that, he appointed capable officials, worked diligently, and the "Kaiyuan" of eternal glory made the Tang Empire stand tall in the world. As the nation flourished, Emperor Li Longji gradually became ignorant and reckless. Loyal officials both inside and outside the court were deeply troubled, while treacherous individuals rose to power. Jealousy and opportunism disrupted the order; Li Linfu and Wang Hao wielded immense power, manipulating events; Wang Zhongsi and his brother Shu Han struggled to defend the borders but were overwhelmed; An Lushan, smiling in disguise, coveted the throne; Yang Guifei was favored, and Yang Guozhong, a power-hungry villain, engaged in fierce political struggles, with countless schemes leading to the An-Shi Rebellion. The rebel army swept across the land, and the emperor fled west. At Ma'ewei, the empress perished, the Tang crown prince seized power and divided the realm, Gao Lishi, in deep thought, remained loyal, while Li Fuguo, clever but ultimately misguided, made mistakes. From suppressing rebellions to nurturing a tiger that turned against its master, from forcing the palace coup to abdicating and relocating, Emperor Li Longji of the Tang Dynasty left behind a legacy of indelible reflections and sorrows.
With majestic and powerful prose, the author vividly portrays the heroic and fierce yet tragic life of Emperor Minghuang, the unpredictable twists of palace intrigue and familial bonds, the scales between personal gain and national destiny, the struggle between loyalty and greed, and the clash between honest advice and sycophantic flattery. The narrative is both inspiring and thought-provoking.
