Doctor's answer:

Epilepsy is a chronic disease characterized by sudden, abnormal discharges of brain neurons, leading to temporary dysfunction of the brain. It is generally difficult to cure and requires long-term medication control. For generalized tonic-clonic seizures, drugs such as phenobarbital, sodium valproate, and carbamazepine are prescribed. For absence seizures, clonazepam and diazepam are used. Western medications should not be changed, interrupted, or stopped arbitrarily. Only after the epilepsy is fully controlled for 2-3 years and the electroencephalogram (EEG) is normal can the dosage be gradually reduced and the medication discontinued.
