Features: Rujin is located at the western foot of the Wuyi Mountains, serving as a key town in the southeastern corner of Jiangxi Province. It borders Changting County in Fujian Province to the east, Huichang County in Jiangxi Province to the south, Yudu to the west, and Ningdu and Shicheng counties to the north. The city covers a total area of 2,448 square kilometers, administers 19 townships and towns, and has a total population of 600,000.
Rujin has written a glorious chapter in the history of the Chinese revolution and holds significant historical importance. It is the birthplace of the first red government in China—the Provisional Central Government of the Chinese Soviet Republic—and the center of the central revolutionary base during the Second Revolutionary War. It is also one of the starting points of the famous Long March of the Red Army, covering 25,000 li (approximately 12,500 kilometers).
After the liberation, Rujin has gained international acclaim as the "Hometown of Red Culture" and the "Cradle of the Republic." It has become a revered and aspirational revolutionary sacred site. During the approximately five years from when the Red Army entered Rujin to its departure for the Long March in October 1934, the people of Rujin enthusiastically supported the construction of the Red Army and the central base area. Over 50,000 Rujin natives joined the Red Army, and more than 30,000 lost their lives, with over 17,000 named martyrs.
The people of Rujin made significant contributions and sacrifices for the revolution. Without Rujin, there would be no Beijing, no Soviet Republic at the time, and no Republic today.
