As the highest form of civil codified law, the Civil Code is a manifestation of the systematicization of civil law theory and the highest achievement of civil legislative accomplishments in civil law systems. Drafting a Civil Code for China has long been the shared aspiration and hope of scholars in the field of civil law in our country. In recent years, around the drafting of the Civil Code, numerous scholars have contributed ideas and suggestions on the significance of drafting a Civil Code, the future framework of China's Civil Code, the design of its rules and institutions, engaging in in-depth and beneficial discussions, and publishing a large number of academic works. On many major and difficult issues, consensus has been reached. In this process, face-to-face exchanges, discussions, and even debates are essential. As the saying goes, "A stone has no fire until it collides, creating enlightenment; water has no waves until it is agitated, creating ripples." Through debate, mutual inspiration can be achieved, further promoting civil law research and contributing to the perfection of our future Civil Code. In light of this, the Research Center for Civil and Commercial Law at Renmin University of China has actively organized a series of academic seminars on major and difficult issues concerning the Civil Code.
