IELTS Exam Skills Training Course (hereinafter referred to as Course) was written by teachers from the Department of Overseas Training at Beijing Language and Culture University, drawing on years of experience in IELTS training and teaching, as well as a detailed analysis of the IELTS exam. Since its publication in 1997, the Course has been praised byIELTS candidates for its rich and comprehensive content, diverse exercise formats, scientific and practical organization, and its ability to accurately address exam key points and difficulties faced by Chinese candidates. The Course is rich in content, covering a wide range of topics drawn from real-life and academic scenarios in English-speaking countries. The material is arranged in an easy-to-difficult, progressive manner. The book is divided into a "Student Book" and a "Teacher Book" for self-study purposes.
### Part 1: Student Book
The Student Book is divided into seven units. The first six units provide listening-specific exercises, categorized to simulate IELTS exam question types. Unit exercises primarily focus on numerical practice, using dialogues and reports related to numbers from real-life situations. The second unit emphasizes listening and writing skills, training candidates to capture and record key information through scenarios such as hotel check-ins, phone records, and filling out various forms. The third unit focuses on visual and listening skills, aiming to assess candidates' ability to understand and comprehend listening materials. The fourth and fifth units are comprehensive exercises, requiring candidates to summarize and organize information after listening and understanding, responding in brief phrases, completing information, or making multiple-choice and true/false selections. The sixth unit reinforces candidates' skills in note-taking while listening. The seventh unit includes four sets of mock tests. These four tests are designed based on different IELTS listening question formats provided by the British Council in recent years.
### Part 2: Teacher Book
The Teacher Book includes all written materials for the recordings as well as answers.
