Features: Art education is not the same as the reality of art; the distance between them defines the social function of art education, a point rarely considered in past art education. If art education were to equate itself with the reality of art, its existence would lose meaning. Beyond continuously responding to the reality of art education, what else can it do? This is something contemporary art education should pay special attention to. We should quickly move beyond specific institutional constraints such as admissions, exams, student records, and credit hours, focusing instead on the ultimate goal of art education—what it can contribute to humanity, including China.
