Features: This book analyzes and elaborates on the part-of-speech tagging in various representative Chinese-English dictionaries, comparing it with the part-of-speech tagging in modern Chinese. It conducts analysis and statistics, providing a detailed and convincing investigation into the differences in part-of-speech identification between Chinese-English dictionaries. Based on this, it predicts the impact of part-of-speech tagging on the accuracy of translation in Chinese-English dictionaries. The appendices at the end list the classification data for easy reference by researchers. The book is divided into nine chapters.
Chapter 1 briefly introduces the research rationale, objectives, and methods and materials.
Chapter 2 reviews part-of-speech research and the part-of-speech tagging in Chinese dictionaries, outlining the core issues in the study of part-of-speech tagging in Chinese-English dictionaries.
Chapter 3 reviews part-of-speech tagging research in Chinese-English dictionaries and proposes research questions based on this review.
Chapter 4 proposes the theoretical framework for this study from the perspective of cognitive theories such as categorization theory and de-categorization theory.
Chapters 5 and 6 conduct large-scale surveys on part-of-speech identification in Chinese-English dictionaries to determine whether they follow the principle of "part-of-speech equivalence." Chapter 5 includes the research design, overall survey results and analysis, and preliminary conclusions, while Chapter 6 conducts in-depth and detailed studies on eight categories to further refine the findings of Chapter 5.
Chapter 7 investigates the impact of part-of-speech tagging in Chinese-English dictionaries on the accuracy of translation and argues for the rationality of adopting a "Chinese-centered approach" in part-of-speech tagging.
Chapter 8 presents a case study on part-of-speech tagging based on corpus and the internet, further demonstrating the basis for part-of-speech tagging in Chinese-English dictionaries and providing referenceable operational methods for such tagging.
Chapter 9 summarizes the findings and proposes future research directions.
