Many gods played heroic roles in these stories. This book compiles six essential Greek myth stories, narrating six beautiful and moving legends in concise language for readers. Greek culture originated from the ancient Aegean civilization, with its creators being the ancestors of Western civilization. They possessed extraordinary talents and an extraordinary imagination. In that primitive era, they felt mysterious and bewildered about natural phenomena and human life and death, so they constantly fantasized and contemplated. In their imagination, everything in the universe possessed life. However, after the Dorians invaded the Aegean civilization, due to overpopulation on the Greek peninsula, they had to seek living space abroad. At this time, they revered heroes and thus gave rise to many national hero stories interwoven with gods and humans. The stories of gods, humans, and things created by them, through the refinement of time, were Greek mythology by historians, with the period from the 11th to 12th centuries BC to the 7th and 8th centuries BC being known as the Mythological Age. Myth stories were originally passed down orally until the 7th century BC, when the great poet Homer compiled and recorded them in the Iliad. This book selects six Greek myth stories—Bellerophon, Heracles, Ialmenus, The Odyssey, Perseus, and Theseus—in a bilingual English-Chinese format.
