Features: As a recommended industry standard, the "Test Procedures for Highway Geosynthetics" (JTJ/T 060-98) was issued on December 30, 1998, and implemented from February 1, 1999. The promulgation and implementation of the procedures played a significant role in unifying test methods for geosynthetics in highway engineering, guiding and standardizing geosynthetic testing. In recent years, geosynthetics have developed rapidly, with their application fields continuously expanding, application technologies improving, and new materials being introduced. After 1999, the National Technical Supervision Administration successively approved and published 14 series of national standards for geosynthetic products and test methods. To align with international and national standards and meet the new needs of geosynthetic testing in highway engineering, it was necessary to revise the original procedures. By the end of 2001, the Ministry of Transport issued Transport Highway Development [2001] No. 620, assigning the task of revising the "Test Procedures for Highway Geosynthetics" (JTJ/T 060-98) to the Highway Research Institute of the Ministry of Transport. The revision of this procedures followed the following principles: (1) Based on the existing industry standard system for highway engineering, revisions were made by considering the revision status of related standards and the special requirements of the industry. The selection of test methods aimed to accommodate different materials, cover major types, and avoid excessive complexity. (2) Advanced standards were adopted as much as possible, with the goal of aligning with international standards while taking into account China's conditions and industry characteristics, ensuring consistency with national standards in basic test methods. (3) To facilitate the understanding of test methods and the application of parameter indicators, the informational content of the explanatory notes was appropriately increased. The main revisions to the "Test Procedures for Highway Geosynthetics" include: (1) Terms and Symbols: In addition to the existing functional terms, product name terms were added. (2) Specimen Preparation and Data Processing: The original "Specimen Preparation and Data Organization" was divided into two sections: Sampling and Sample Preparation, and Test Data Organization and Calculation. (3) Physical Property Tests: The thickness measurement method was modified, and a new method for measuring width was added. (4) Mechanical Property Tests: The tape tensile test, tensile creep and tensile creep rupture performance test, direct shear friction characteristic test, trapezoidal tearing strength test, CBR puncture strength test, puncture strength test, and drop cone penetration test were modified; new tests were added, including wide tape tensile test, joint/seam wide tape tensile test, and peel force test for adhesive weld points. (5) Hydraulic Property Tests: The effective opening size test (dry sieving method) and vertical permeability test were modified; new tests were added, including hydrostatic pressure resistance test, compressive strength and flow rate test for plastic drainage sheet core belt. (6) Durability Tests: New tests were added, including antioxidant performance test, acid and alkali solution resistance test, ultraviolet resistance test (xenon lamp and fluorescent UV lamp methods), and carbon black content test.
