Features: The first edition of "Oral Clinical Pharmacology" has been published for three years. During these three years, China's medical and health industry has made significant progress. In 2001, the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress issued a new "Drug Administration Law," incorporating the legal achievements since its enactment 16 years ago and adding new legal provisions. The principles of strictness, science, and pragmatism have been implemented in all aspects of drug management, raising higher requirements for drug use. Many new drugs have been introduced, and new findings have been made in the observation of adverse drug reactions. At the same time, feedback from medical and pharmaceutical colleges on the use of the first edition of the textbook has been received. Based on this, the Third Textbook Review Committee for Oral Medicine of Higher Education Institutions in China decided to revise the first edition of the textbook and proposed guiding opinions for the revision, including aligning with the main textbook of oral medicine and fully reflecting the latest developments in domestic and international oral pharmacology.
To this end, the new edition of the textbook has expanded the content of the general principles, with the first six chapters covering general principles, enabling dental students to comprehensively understand the regulations they must follow in clinical drug use practices and the characteristics of oral clinical drug use. It has also added and enriched content on evidence-based medicine, the principles of drug clinical trial design, and China's GCP, as well as how to identify, handle, and report adverse drug reactions, and how to use drugs rationally. The purpose is to cultivate students' clinical rational drug use skills and clinical drug research capabilities.
The second part consists of 16 chapters that specifically introduce drugs closely related to oral clinical practice and their usage characteristics, with the addition of pharmacokinetics content to help students better understand the methods and mechanisms of oral drug use.
