The Story of Ah Q: Chinese-English Parallel Text

Features: I have wanted to write a proper biography of Ah Q for more than a year or two. But as I was writing, I kept reminiscing. This shows that I am not a "proclaimer" because the immortal pen must convey the immortal person, and people are known through their writings, while writings are known through people—eventually, it became unclear who depended on whom, and it all boiled down to telling Ah Q's story, as if there was a ghost in my thoughts. This book selects works by the Chinese writer Lu Xun and is translated into English-Chinese parallel format for easy reading by the readers.
Ah Q didn’t speak and tried to back away; Lord Zhao rushed over and slapped him. "How could you have the surname Zhao! + You’re not even from the Zhao family!" Ah Q didn’t argue that he did indeed have the surname Zhao, but instead rubbed his left cheek and left with the constable. Outside, he was scolded by the constable again and paid him 200 coins of wine money. Those who knew him said Ah Q was too foolish to provoke the beating himself; he probably didn’t have the surname Zhao, even if he did, with Lord Zhao around, he shouldn’t have been so reckless. After that, no one mentioned his family name again, so I never found out what Ah Q’s surname really was.
