Features: Through in-depth geological history analysis and geochemical research, the material manifestation patterns of secondary hydrocarbon generation from sedimentary organic matter were systematically identified for the first time, and the chemical reaction kinetics mechanisms were thoroughly explored. The "three histories" background of secondary hydrocarbon generation in the Paleozoic of the Bohai Bay Basin and the evolution history of the paleogeothermal field were systematically analyzed, revealing the heating-maturation-hydrocarbon generation history of Paleozoic sedimentary organic matter. A relatively complete evaluation method system for secondary hydrocarbon generation from source rocks was established for the first time, based on which the spatiotemporal distribution characteristics of secondary hydrocarbon generation in the Paleozoic of the Bohai Bay Basin were quantitatively discussed, achieving the preferential evaluation of favorable zones. The research achievements of the author in the basic characteristics, fundamental theories, and preferential evaluation theories and methods of secondary hydrocarbon generation from sedimentary organic matter have opened up new pathways for theoretical research on secondary hydrocarbon generation from source rocks and also advance the practice of preferential evaluation and assessment of favorable zones for secondary hydrocarbon generation. This book is suitable for scientists and graduate students engaged in fossil energy geology research, and also has reference value for technical personnel involved in petroleum and natural gas resource evaluation.
