This categorization method is the best way to achieve high scores.
International students often have a limited vocabulary, failing to meet IELTS requirements. Immigrants, most of whom have not used English frequently after graduation, struggle to know where to start their review. Based on five years of IELTS training experience, one essential prerequisite for passing the exam with high scores is mastering a certain vocabulary, approximately 6,000–7,000 words. Relying solely on rote memorization of word lists and phrases is far from sufficient, unscientific, and makes it difficult to grasp the correct usage of these words. Therefore, we reviewed a large number of IELTS reference materials and selected high-frequency words from past exam papers to compile this IELTS Vocabulary book, hoping to provide some help and guidance to candidates busy preparing for the test.
Memorizing vocabulary can be tedious. The main features of this book are:
1) Categorized vocabulary memorization. IELTS has different requirements for each section, with writing requiring mastery and reading only requiring basic comprehension. This book summarizes common vocabulary for listening, speaking, reading, and writing, such as specialized listening words, speaking-specific vocabulary, writing-specific words, and selected reading words, to help candidates memorize them in a targeted manner based on actual needs. This categorization method is the best way to achieve high scores.
2) Integrated example sentences for easy memorization. Some words in this book are accompanied by example sentences, part of speech, and common definitions. Example sentences illustrate word usage, reinforcing memory and breaking away from the rigid memorization of word meanings. Combined with example sentences, learners can imitate and master the words more easily, overcoming the phenomenon of repeatedly memorizing and forgetting vocabulary.
3) English-Chinese dual explanation. All words are provided with English definitions and explanations. The selected English vocabulary is limited to 2,000 of the most common words. On one hand, this helps consolidate the most common and valuable words. On the other hand, it ensures an accurate understanding of the original word's meaning.
