Features: Quality certification is a quality activity that confirms whether a product, enterprise, or laboratory complies with standards and relevant regulations through the confirmation of a certification body and the issuance of certificates or marks. At the same time, it is also the implementation process of certification standards. In 1903, the British Standards Institution began using the quality mark that conformed to British Standards (BS)—the kite mark—which marked the beginning of modern quality certification. After more than a century of development and improvement, quality certification has now become an effective method for standard implementation supervision and quality supervision worldwide. Currently, quality certification includes three parts: product quality certification, quality system registration/certification, and laboratory accreditation. To provide students majoring in standardization and quality management and related fields with a comprehensive and systematic understanding of quality certification, China Jiliang University, the only higher education institution directly under the former National Administration for Quality and Technology Supervision, decided to offer a "Quality Certification" course in 1996. Due to the lack of teaching materials in the field of quality certification at that time, their content was outdated, or they focused too heavily on quality system certification training, failing to fully and scientifically reflect the current situation of quality certification both domestically and internationally. Therefore, the author decided to self-edit the textbook "Quality Certification" and included it in the "1996 Textbook Compilation Plan" of China Jiliang University. The author conducted comprehensive surveys and research in the Certification Office and Review Office of the former National Administration for Quality and Technology Supervision, as well as in various product quality certification institutions, quality system certification institutions in Zhejiang, Shanghai, and other regions, and representative certified enterprises. These institutions and enterprises were very enthusiastic in their support, providing a large amount of documents and materials. At the same time, the author was invited to carry out quality certification consulting and training in some industrial enterprises, rural enterprises, and commercial service enterprises. Some certification institutions also hired the author as a technical expert, and the author participated in certification audits for some enterprises and engaged in the entire process of quality certification activities, accumulating practical experience in quality certification and laying the foundation for compiling this book.
