Publish Date: 2006-10-01
Features: The collection includes 211 letters from 51 prominent figures in modern literary history (such as Yang Hansheng, Mao Dun, Guo Moruo, Lao She, Bing Xin, Xu Guangping, Ba Jin, Hong Shen, Shi Zhecun, Du Muoliang, Ding Ling, etc.), most of which have not been publicly published. For example, Guo Moruo's 6 letters are not included in either The Complete Works of Guo Moruo or Guo Moruo's Correspondence; Lao She's 4 letters are also not included in The Complete Works of Lao She; among Bing Xin's 62 letters, only 13 are included in The Complete Works of Bing Xin, undoubtedly providing further material for the study of modern Chinese writers. Even more valuable is that this letter collection focuses on selected correspondence from a group of female writers in modern Chinese literary history, such as Chen Ying, Feng Yuanjun, Yuan Changying, Bai Wei, Lu Jingqing, Xie Bingling, Fang Lingru, Luo Hong, Bai Bing, Yang Fanru, Su Xuelin, Luo Yujun, etc., offering extremely valuable first-hand materials for both individual and comprehensive research on these female writers. The book includes 212 letters from 52 renowned modern Chinese writers, the earliest dating back to 1941 and the latest to 1996, most of which have not been published. To ensure the authenticity and accuracy of these letters as historical materials, most of them have been verified against the original copies, and errors in Zhao's editorial memory have been cross-examined and supplemented with numerous "notes." To highlight the historical significance of these letters and enrich their content and sense of historical reality, 178 related photographs, including portraits, book covers, original letters, paintings, and autographs, have been included. The entire book spans over 280 pages.
