Features: The Six Records of a Floating Life is a semi-autobiographical novel written by Shen Fu (styled Sanbai, known as Meiyi), a native of Changzhou in the Qing Dynasty, in the 13th year of the Jiaqing reign (1808). It consists of six volumes, each with a subheading, in the following order: Records of Joy in the Inner Chamber, Records of Leisurely Pleasures, Records of Hardship and Sorrow, Records of Joyful Wanderings, Records of the Journey to Zhongshan, and Records of the Way of Health. According to research, the last two volumes are spurious and their text is inferior to the earlier parts.
