The "Legal and Development Translation Series" organized and translated by the Hongfan Institute of Law and Economics includes a collection of achievements from these discussions. These empirical analyses and theoretical findings will help enrich our knowledge, understand the essence of the issues, and find our own path by learning from others' experiences. — Wu Jinglian
The translation of these nine books is a highly valuable endeavor. It differs from the past large-scale translations of classic legal or economic works. It belongs to the category of macro-level research on the intrinsic integration of economics and law. This is an attempt, and we hope it can open people's minds, enabling them to think more deeply and from more diverse perspectives. If we achieve this, we will have succeeded. The Hongfan Institute of Law and Economics dedicates these nine books to the readers and recommends them. — Jiang Ping
We hope and believe that the publication of this series will contribute to a better understanding of the theme of law and development, thereby inspiring interest in researching the various issues involved. Ultimately, we also hope that through an understanding and reflection of the experiences and lessons of the global law and development movement, especially through in-depth research on China's reform practices, the theme of law and development will be treated with seriousness here and become a growth point for institutional and theoretical innovation in China's reform process. — Liang Zhiping
The Value of Law: Evaluation in Transitioning Economies. This book focuses on the legal systems in the economy, particularly those in transitioning (or transitional) economies. It employs economic methods and perspectives to analyze a wide range of institutional aspects, including Russian legal reforms, dispute resolution, and corporate transactions. Of course, some research and analysis of dispute resolution in Chinese courts are also included. Overall, the manuscript serves as a record of transitioning economies, offering a relatively objective perspective.
