Features: Wang Lifu, styled Zhicheng (also written as "Cheng"), also known as Rui, styled Jiancheng; during the development of Nanji Island, he called himself "Sea Beard" and adopted the name Haiqian as his alias. He was born in Chenyingli, Jiangnan District, Pingyang County (now part of Cangnan County) in 1876 (the second year of the Guangxu reign of the Qing Dynasty) and passed away in Yongjia County City (now Lucheng District, Wenzhou) in 1950 at the age of 75. The newly revised Pingyang County Gazetteer (1993 edition), Volume 37 Biographies, includes a biography of him. This book's appendix features the Chronology of Mr. Wang Lifu, reviewed and edited by Wang Wei and others, as well as two articles by Wang Tie, What I Know About My Father. These provide a relatively specific, detailed, and comprehensive introduction to Wang Lifu's family background, career, academic achievements, work, and thoughts. Both were direct relatives of the Wang family and were senior scholars specializing in modern Chinese history. The materials and conclusions they provided are highly reliable. This paper attempts to observe and analyze the process of Wang Lifu and his Sea Beard Poetry growing up, the achievements and shortcomings they reached, and the underlying reasons behind them. This may allow history to offer some reflection for the realities of modern life.
