Features: Among modern Chinese poets, Dai Wangshu is exceptionally rigorous. He wrote only over one hundred poems in total and published four poetry collections: My Memory, Wangshu Grass, Wangshu Poetry Manuscript, and Years of Calamity. Interestingly, Wangshu Grass was a revision and expansion of My Memory, and Wangshu Poetry Manuscript was a further revised and compiled collection of both My Memory and Wangshu Grass. Dai Wangshu constantly revised his poems, striving for perfection, with some even being altered beyond recognition. Wangshu Poetry Manuscript can be considered the definitive version of his early poetry, while Years of Calamity is the definitive version of his later poetry. Therefore, it is appropriate for this selected collection of Dai Wangshu to include these two works (the original "Six Poems in French" from Wangshu Poetry Manuscript has been removed, and a new preface by Du Heng has been added).
