Features: The twenty-one essays collected in this small book, except for a few exceptions, were written in the early 1960s and in recent years after 1978. The author originally focused on the literary history of the Han, Wei, Six Dynasties, and Five Dynasties of Sui and Tang, but starting in the 1960s, his research focus shifted to the history of Chinese literary criticism. In addition to participating in the collective writing of The History of Chinese Literary Criticism, he has also written dozens of essays on ancient Chinese literary theory. Among them, the essays on The Literary Mind and the Carving of Dragons were so numerous that they were compiled into a book titled Explorations in The Literary Mind and the Carving of Dragons by Shanghai. The remaining essays are included in this book. The materials on ancient Chinese literary theory are very rich, and there are many issues. The author believes that what he has recognized and discussed is only a small part of the phenomena and issues, and his understanding is not deep, so he named the book Glimpses of Ancient Chinese Literary Theory. The two essays on quality and windbone in the book are relatively brief, and there is a detailed explanation in a longer essay in Explorations in The Literary Mind and the Carving of Dragons. Please refer to it for readers.
