Features: The history of Wenzhou has witnessed several compilations of selected inscriptions on stone tablets. A brief statistical summary shows that the Ming Hongzhi Annals of Wenzhou Prefecture included 93 inscriptions; the Wanli Annals of Wenzhou Prefecture, 47; the Qing Qianlong Annals of Wenzhou Prefecture, 133; the Records of of Dongou, 28; and the Guangxu Annals of Yongjia County, 129. Except for the Records of, the inscriptions recorded in other works are categorized under specific headings, with incomplete headings at the beginning and end and often brief main texts, exhibiting varying degrees of flaws. Stone tablets have suffered from wind and rain damage over time, and the process of searching for, tracing, photographing, and deciphering their inscriptions has been arduous. Taking the Brief Introduction to the Righteous Fields tablet in Ligang Village, Ligang Township, Taishun County as an example, the preliminary investigation was extremely. The mountain path was steep and terrifying, the tablet stood in a dilapidated field and could not be moved, photography failed, and even though it was traced, deciphering was difficult. The tablet, with over 500 characters, required the consultation of many experts and took more than half a month to decipher. Wenzhou is culturally prosperous and has a deep heritage, with a rich collection of stone tablet inscriptions. Despite years of research, many treasures remain undiscovered. Therefore, as this book is published, we still hope that colleagues will share information to further the search.
