Features: The "New Developments in Chinese Higher Education Research" of 2004 has now entered its third year. We continue to adhere to the principles of the previous two editions, systematically reviewing and studying the annual developments in the field of higher education research, examining the subsequent research trends, and striving to objectively present the research outcomes of scholars. We fully showcase the diverse research conclusions derived from different perspectives and the supporting evidence for their arguments, revealing the consensus and progress achieved in research. Perhaps our selection of topics and the arrangement of the framework, as well as the brief summaries at the beginning of each chapter, reflect our own insights. However, we refrain from further analysis and interpretation of the compiled research findings and content, allowing readers to directly access the perspectives of individual researchers, understand the focus, scope, and progress of research on specific issues or fields, and thereby gain a more comprehensive understanding of the basic situation of Chinese higher education research in 2004. This enables readers to accurately grasp the trends in higher education research and the direction of current reforms and developments in higher education reflected by these trends.
