Features: Dream of the Red Chamber is known as "The Chronicle of the Inner Chambers," featuring a large number of female characters. Over two hundred years of "Red Studies" have accumulated extensive discussions on these women. Research on Lin Daiyu, Xue Baochai, and Wang Xifeng has been particularly prominent, with separate volumes dedicated to each in this series. Other female characters have also garnered widespread attention from scholars, though not as much as Daiyu, Baochai, or Xifeng, some of whom have been studied in depth, such as Shi Xiangyun, Xiren, and Qingwen. The study of these female characters has not only broadened the scope of "Red Studies" but has also, to some extent, grown to become half of the field. This volume selects 69 female characters beyond Daiyu, Baochai, and Xifeng, who have been the focus of "Red Studies," along with the research texts on them. This series is a compilation of critical essays on Red Chamber characters, consisting of six volumes and seven books. It gathers commentaries on Red Chamber characters from various eras into one volume, categorizes them, and includes prefaces for each category, helping researchers and enthusiasts to grasp the relevant materials more quickly and comprehensively, providing a general understanding of Red Chamber characters as a whole. An index of research works and a critic index are appended at the end of the book.
