Features: This book is based on the lecture notes of the author teaching the "Comparative Preschool Education" course at the Department of Preschool Education, School of Preschool Education and Special Education, East China Normal University. Extensive domestic and international materials were consulted and searched online, and it was revised several times. The book consists of nine chapters and has the following characteristics:
1. It systematically discusses the development and reform of preschool education in America, Europe, and Asia, and also dedicates separate chapters to elaborate on the characteristics of preschool education in Oceania and Africa. It not only comprehensively elaborates on the experiences of preschool education development in major countries worldwide but also briefly introduces the developmental processes of preschool education in some small and medium-sized countries.
2. It dedicates a special chapter to compare preschool education in various countries and conduct comparisons between China and other countries, clarifying the century-long development of world preschool education and discussing the basic status of comparative preschool education research domestically and internationally.
3. Based on the increasing role of computer multimedia and the Internet in teaching and learning, URLs for learners to reference are provided at the end of each chapter.
4. To address the difficulty readers may face in finding relevant books and English materials to broaden their knowledge during the learning process, extensive reference bibliographies are listed at the end of each chapter, along with a short English essay for reference.
5. To help readers focus on mastering the content of the book, each chapter includes a summary and review questions. This book serves as a textbook for preschool education majors in higher normal universities and can also be used as a reference for preschool educators, comparative education researchers, and teachers in various preschool institutions.
