Features: Historically, scholars studying Middle Chinese phonology and the Guangyun have relied on the Yunjing and Qiyinlüe as reference rhyme diagrams. Although the phonological systems of these two diagrams are largely consistent with that of the Guangyun, there are discrepancies in their specific word classifications. In light of this, Qing Dynasty scholars such as Jiang Yong, Liang Sengbao, and Chen Feng created their own rhyme diagrams to reflect and study the phonological system of the Guangyun, but each had its own limitations. The Guangyun Rhyme Diagrams by the renowned modern scholar Fang Xiaoyue were meticulously crafted based on an in-depth study of the Guangyun, using its fanqie (reconstruction of pronunciation) and phonological system as the sole reference. Fang Xiaoyue proposed his own insights on the characteristics of different rhyme classes and other issues, offering many novel perspectives. The rhyme diagrams not only indicate the phonological positions of each minor rhyme in the Guangyun, but also provide their corresponding fanqie. For some minor rhymes that could not be included in the diagrams, Fang Xiaoyue explained them in the annotations and corrected errors in the Guangyun one by one.
