Publish Date: 2005-07-01
Features: This dictionary includes 1050 entries on historical events, miracles, religious and political systems, ethnic and family groups, cultural and ceremonial practices, biblical passages, and fables and metaphors mentioned in the Bible. Most of the entries are directly from the Bible, while a few are not found in the Bible but are closely related to events and systems described in it. Since this series also includes "Bible Characters" and "Bible Geography," general names and places are generally not included in this book unless they are related to significant events that cannot be omitted. The Chinese names of the entries in this dictionary are mainly based on the "New and Old Testaments" (Revised Standard Version) published by the Chinese Christian Council in 1994 in Beijing. The publisher noted at the time: "Wherever the word 'God' is used, it may also be referred to as 'Lord.'" For the convenience of readers, this dictionary uses "Lord" as much as possible in place of "God," and other names that differ significantly from the currently common translations in China are also used as much as possible.
