Features: The small book format, known as "jinxiang," originated in the Southern Qi Dynasty and flourished during the Song Dynasty. From the Ming and Qing dynasties onwards, new designs emerged each generation. The term "jinxiang" refers to the small boxes used in ancient times to store handkerchiefs and other miscellaneous items. The ancients read at any time, whether sitting or lying down, and always carried books with them. Thus, the format was made small enough to fit into a "jinxiang" box; it was portable for travel and convenient for reading at rest, allowing for leisurely enjoyment. Although the "jinxiang" book is considered the youngest among all books, it upholds the principle of Confucius's "learning and timely practice," and its contribution is significant. Unfortunately, in modern times, with the influence of Western culture, books have shifted to Western-style bindings. While improving in appearance, they have become increasingly cumbersome. Carrying them is like a burden for an ox, and reading in bed is difficult even for a short time. Worse still, some are outwardly rich but inwardly hollow, prioritizing the box over the content, misleading readers and drifting farther from the true essence of books. The "Ancient Society Jinxiang Book Series" was created with purpose, drawing on the experiences and shortcomings of jinxiang books throughout history. It aims to return to simplicity and elegance, promoting national heritage. The design is small yet complete, the price is affordable yet carefully selected for quality, the selection of titles is purposeful yet emphasizes personal taste and charm, and the organization is logical for both individual purchases and collections, bringing great satisfaction. Enhanced with fragrant paper, vivid color printing, meticulous proofreading, and dynamic layouts, this series demonstrates great effort and dedication to small compilations, making it hard for readers to resist once they see it. Mountains need not be high to be sacred; books need not be expensive to possess charm. Therefore, the series is named "Shuyunlou," and refined gentlemen will surely appreciate its essence.
