Features: Mi Fu (1051–1107), originally named Mi Fu, styled Yuanzhang, and known as Xiangyang Manshi and Haiyue Wai Shi. He was from Wu (now Suzhou, Jiangsu). He held the position of Assistant Director of the Ministry of Rites. Due to his eccentric behavior, he was also called "Mi Dian." He was skilled in poetry and prose, as well as calligraphy and painting, and had a keen eye for appreciation. His calligraphy was influenced by the Jin and Tang dynasties, particularly Wang Xianzhi, and he was renowned for his running script. He was one of the "Four Masters of the Song Dynasty," alongside Su Shi, Huang Tingjian, and Cai Xiang. Mi Fu excelled in calligraphy, with a style that was profound, forceful, and expressive, deeply embodying the spirit of Wang Xianzhi's brushwork. He was especially adept at copying, achieving a level of realism that was indistinguishable from the original. His running script was characterized by elegance and fluidity, and this piece is one of his representative works in the genre.
