Features: The development of academic endeavors is like the vast Yangtze River, with waves following waves, endless and continuous. It is also like the passing of the torch, with each generation building upon the achievements and experiences of the previous one, making the brilliance ever brighter. Later scholars must understand the work already done by their predecessors, inherit their accomplishments and insights, and then move forward on this foundation. The Academic Committee of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences has gathered dozens of senior experts from dozens of disciplines within our institution. They have decades of research experience in their respective fields and have made significant contributions in their areas of expertise. The published series features representative works selected by each expert from their academic careers, bringing them together for publication. This not only showcases their diligent and dedicated academic journey but also reflects the partial achievements and developments in various fields of philosophy and social sciences in China over the past few decades, especially since the reform and opening-up. This collection includes 34 papers, all selected from works published between 1978 and 2003. The study of literary theory issues or foreign literary theory issues is my third main research direction and also one of the main contents of this collection. Since 1978, I have written a series of papers on this topic, elaborating on the theories with urgent and pioneering significance in the process of domestic and international literary theories. These papers cover various aspects such as the methods, concepts, frameworks, inheritance, and reference of literary studies.
