World War II, in Search -- Human Traces and Shadows Anthology. Second Series

Author: Ding Gang
Publisher:
Publish Date: 2005-01-01
Features: In 2004, the 60th anniversary of the D-Day landing was celebrated on a grand scale, far exceeding previous events. Europeans and Americans were still debating and reflecting on some of the events that occurred 60 years ago. In Asia, however, we still had to painstakingly explain and debate some long-established historical facts. Ding Gang, a journalist who worked in Europe and the United States for many years, entered museum after museum and visited historical sites related to World War II, interviewing elderly people who had experienced the war. In 2005—the 60th anniversary of the victory in the anti-fascist war—if you can read this book, it is as if you are following the author's footsteps in exploring World War II, but I believe you will have your own reflections. The book is basically divided into two parts. One part was written during my time working in Europe and the United States, and new materials have been added during this revision, along with some literary edits and added reflections. The second part consists of newly written articles, though they are also based on original interview records, audio or video recordings. Due to professional reasons, some articles may still retain traces of news reporting. Similarly, because of my profession, I have devoted more attention to the reflections of Europeans, and I think this reflects, to some extent, the intellectual journey of Europeans at the end of the 20th century.
