The elderly, upon entering the house, sweep the ice drips from their beards with a broom, saying, "It's so cold today! The ground has cracked." The carriage driver, with three stars in the sky, walks around with a long whip for sixty or seventy miles. As soon as dawn breaks, he enters the carriage inn and says to the innkeeper in a single sentence, "What a fierce day! Sharp as a knife."
