Features: At the turn of the century, the development of humanities and academia requires reflection and review, which is a necessity for the advancement of socialist cultural undertakings. The considerable achievements made by domestic academia in studying contemporary Western society under the guidance of Marxism have made such reflection and review possible. Therefore, we organized scholars to translate and select works for the "Foreign Cultural Book Collection of the 20th Century." "Cultural" is merely a colloquial term, and the selection of candidates is primarily based on academic value. As for the selected writings in each individual collection, they are intended to genuinely reflect the intellectual characteristics and academic perspectives of the respective figures, providing readers with the opportunity to analyze, study, draw inspiration from, and critique their works and ideas. While our aspirations are high, our actions may not yet match them. We sincerely hope for the support and advancement of academia. Truth is always dangerous—when the means replace the end, lies accumulate, and in such a case, the means transform into the end, making the original goal unattainable. The book contains their wisdom, naturally, with both essence and dross, and both experience and lessons. The fundamental purpose of this book lies in the development of national culture, which must be set against the backdrop of world culture. We can only create a favorable ecological environment for preserving, developing, and improving ourselves by absorbing heterogeneous ideas, cultural knowledge, and humanistic literacy from within the framework of a traditionally rooted system.
