Features: Lì Biàn is a dictionary of Lì (clerical script) characters, compiled by Gu Aiji of the Qing Dynasty. The eight volumes of the book are organized based on the rhyme categories of the Lǐbù Yùlüè (Ministry of Rites Rhyme Outline) of the Song Dynasty, with each character accompanied by the name of the stele and relevant inscriptions. The sixth volume, Biānpáng (Components), analyzes the 540 components from the Shuowen Jiezi (Explanation of Characters). The seventh and eighth volumes, Bēikǎo (Stele Examination), describe the existence or disappearance of the steles, arranged in chronological order. The current edition is a photolithographic reproduction of the edition published in Xiang Yinyu Yuan Tang in the 57th year of the Kangxi reign. For convenience of use, a supplementary index has been specially compiled and appended to the book.
