Eagle Town: Notes from the Wula Fields: Notes from the Wula Fields

Features: If you have visited Jilin City, you know there is a green river flowing through the city. This river never freezes in winter. On windless nights and in temperatures below -20 degrees Celsius, it often billows with mist, combined with factors like humidity in the air, forming rime ice on the pine and willow trees along both banks. This is a renowned scenic beauty. The banks of the Songhua River are the homeland of the Manchus. In this sacred land, they still tame eagles and hunt, preserving their traditional customs. The soaring eagles in the sky are a testament to the harmonious coexistence of humans and nature. To traverse mountains and rivers, to enter forests and wilderness – this is our dream. We will continue to journey on. While writing this postscript, we heard the call of orcas on the television, which sounded remarkably like the chirping of a sea gull. Since childhood, both my friend and I have been drawn to the world of wildlife, and this has become our lifelong pursuit. That is why we have made an appointment with Old Five to observe eagles this August Festival. When this book is published, we may just be hidden deep in the mountains, waiting for the appearance of the massive, brownish-black shadow of a vulture.
