Publishing Date: 2003-01-01
Features: This book is based on Qing Wang Xianqian's Collected Annotations on Xunzi. During the process of annotation and translation, it primarily references the collected annotations and annotations on Xunzi by Yu Yue, Liu Shipei, Luo Genze, Liang Qixiong, and Japanese Kubo Aiko. For differing interpretations and explanations of characters and terms in various versions, one interpretation that aligns with the text's consensus is chosen, and specific notes are not provided for each instance. The complete work of Xunzi consists of thirty chapters, from which selected sections of twenty-two chapters, including Admonishing Learning, Cultivating Self, Chengxiang, and Fuci, are briefly annotated and translated into colloquial language. Annotations focus on explaining difficult words and key terms concisely, with pinyin annotations provided for challenging characters. For the convenience of readers, Sun has appended "Quotations from Xunzi", "A Brief Overview of Xunzi," "Major Editions of Xunzi," and "Important Research Works on Xunzi" at the end of the book. The "Quotations from Xunzi" are arranged sequentially, with page numbers in the main text noted in parentheses, and emphasized in the main text.
