Selected Poems of Octavio Paz

Author: Octavio Paz

Publish Date: 2003-05-01
Features: Looking back at the publication of foreign poetry in China during the 20th century, we can clearly see that the translation of poems has always been in a scattered and non-systematic state. We are publishing this series, "20th Century World Poetry Translation Collection," precisely to change this situation. We hope to contribute our modest efforts to fill a gap in China's publishing industry, thereby constructing a long corridor of the 20th-century world poetry history in Chinese, offering a complete picture of 20th-century poetry. This translation series plans to include fifty volumes, divided into five series, with ten volumes per series. This book features over one hundred outstanding poems by Paz from various periods of his career, including his famous poetry collection Freedom Under Language, the unique prose collection Eagle or Sun?, and the great lyrical epic Sun Stone. Paz employs cinematic montage techniques to break the constraints of time and space, blending history and reality, myth and dream, memory and aspiration into a unified whole. He fuses Spanish culture, modern Western culture, and the prehistoric and modern cultures of the Latin American continent, creating works that are passionate, expansive, and reflect the poet's unique understanding of poetic art and profound literary craftsmanship.
