Features: This book is designed for first-year undergraduates in liberal arts (non-English majors) at colleges and universities. It is based on the original first-year liberal arts textbook for public foreign language instruction at the Foreign Languages Department of our university, written by comrades Li Yinhua, Yu Mingliang, Hu Zhongmao, Cheng De, and others. The main compilers include comrades Wang Huiling, Li Yinhua, Yu Yaosheng, Cheng De, Ren Jianguo, and others, with editing and proofreading by comrade Dong Yafen. Additionally, foreign instructors S. Schuchat, C. Iffla, and R. Hayhoe assisted in reviewing all the texts, dialogues, and supplementary readings, while comrade Huang Guanfu participated in proofreading.
