What are the early symptoms of intellectual disability?

Patient's question:

The child appeared to have twisted again, and our whole family didn't know what to do. We asked the experts about the early symptoms of intellectual disability.

Doctor's answer:

The most common form of intellectual disability is Down syndrome, also known as mongolism, characterized by a short and round head, prominent eyes, high outer corners of the eyes, wide-set eyes, a flattened nose bridge, a mouth often in a semi-open state, a tongue frequently sticking out, and constant drooling. Due to individual differences, children with intellectual disabilities may exhibit varying symptoms and degrees of severity, requiring careful observation and comparison. Parents should neither panic at the first sign of abnormal behavior, becoming overly anxious and finding fault with everything; nor should they, out of love, overlook clear signs and mistake slow reactions for the child being "very good."
