Features: In the reform of history teaching in China's higher education institutions, the teaching hours of world history have been significantly reduced to provide students with more time and space for self-study and reflection. At the same time, the reading volume of primary sources and literature for students has been increased to enhance their understanding of history. To explore new approaches in world history teaching reform, after nearly two years of effort, we have compiled the moderately sized Outline of World History as a world history textbook for history majors (designated as a "21st Century Curriculum Textbook" by the Ministry of Education), along with the Computer Multimedia-Assisted Teaching Software for the Outline of World History as a supplementary software for the textbook. Due to its moderate length, the Outline of World History can also serve as a textbook for world history general education courses for non-history majors in higher education institutions. The Computer Multimedia-Assisted Teaching Software for the Outline of World History collects a large number of teaching materials, definitions of terms, thematic introductions, pictures, maps, video recordings, and question banks to meet the needs of both teachers and students. In this textbook, bold and underlined words are specialized terms explained in the Computer Multimedia-Assisted Teaching Software for the Outline of World History, and an index of these terms is provided at the end of the textbook for easy reference. The content of this book covers nearly 700 years of history, from the 14th to the late 1980s and early 1990s of the 20th century. The third part is the Modern History of the World, covering from the 14th century to the beginning of the 17th century, to the October Socialist Revolution in Russia and the World War. The fourth part is the Modern History of the World, covering from the late 1910s (around the October Socialist Revolution in Russia and the end of the World War) to the late 1980s and early 1990s of the 20th century. We strive to maintain the seriousness and rigor of historical writing while making the text more readable and engaging. In terms of structure, we follow the chronological development of history while also categorizing content purposefully, giving readers both a sense of time and space. This book takes the historical materialism of Marxism as its guiding principle, bases its arguments on historical evidence, and focuses on the overall development of human society, aiming to minimize errors in historical understanding.
