The plot summary is as follows: King Tyndareus of Sicily suspects his queen Hermione of misconduct with Polixenes, the King of Bohemia, and imprisons her. In prison, the queen gives birth to a princess, Pandora. The king doubts she is his daughter and orders the young princess to be abandoned in the wilds of the kingdom. Pandora is raised by an old shepherd in Bohemia. When she grows up, she falls in love with the Bohemian prince. Polixenes falsely accuses the prince and prevents him from marrying the shepherd's daughter. The prince and Pandora flee to Sicily together, while the old shepherd travels to Sicily to reveal Pandora's true origins. The play ends with the two kings reconciling and the family being reunited.
