It includes 1,300 paintings, representing significant works from the primitive period to the 20th century in Western art history. These works reflect the artistic characteristics and styles of various painting schools, genres, and artists from different periods and countries in the West. The preface provides an introduction, and each period offers an overview of painting development, along with a database of information about the authors, dates, materials, dimensions, and collections of the works. Based on reading professional literature, readers can not only appreciate the masterpieces of Western painting from various eras but also understand and appreciate the relevant background knowledge of different works.
