Features: Ding Ling (1904-1986), originally named Jiang Wei, styled Bingzhi, was born in Heqiao Village, Xiemei Township, Linli County. In 1927, Ding Ling began writing novels. Her first work, Meng Ke, and early representative Diary of a Lady Called Sha Fei, were published one after another. Subsequently, she published short story collections In Darkness, Diary of Suicide, and A Woman, and the novella Wei Hu. Later, she wrote short and long stories such as Spring of 1930 in Shanghai (Part One, Part Two), One Night, Tianjiachong, Water, Net of Law, News, Night Meeting, Flight, Poet Yalof, and To the Children, as well as the long novel Mother. In 1948, she wrote the renowned long novel The Sun Shines Over the Sanggan River. This masterpiece is a milestone in Ding Ling's creative career and a prominent achievement in the history of modern Chinese literature. In 1951, she won the Stalin Prize for Literature. If one judges Ding Ling's life by her works, she became a creator of major literary phenomena on multiple occasions. Her significant works, on one hand, had a profound impact, while on the other hand, they repeatedly sparked controversy. It was impossible to distinguish between fragrant flowers and poisonous weeds, and denials and affirmations followed one after another, leading to several ups and downs in the evaluation of Ding Ling. Amidst these fluctuations, a colorful and legendary image of a revolutionary female writer emerged.
