Features: Among modern Chinese poets, Dai Wangshu is exceptionally rigorous. He wrote only over one hundred poems in total and published four poetry collections: My Memory, Wangshu Grass, Wangshu Poetry Manuscript, and Years of Calamity. Interestingly, Wangshu Grass was a revised and expanded version of My Memory, and Wangshu Poetry Manuscript was a further revised and compiled collection of both My Memory and Wangshu Grass. Dai Wangshu constantly revised his poems, striving for perfection, with some even being altered beyond recognition. Wangshu Poetry Manuscript can be considered the definitive edition of his early poetry, while Years of Calamity is the definitive edition of his later works. Therefore, it is appropriate for this selected collection of Dai Wangshu to include these two works (Wangshu Poetry Manuscript, originally containing "Six French Poems," has now been omitted, and a new preface by Du Heng has been added).
