Features: Professor Chen Mengjia (1911-1966) was a renowned modern Chinese poet, paleographer, and archaeologist from Shangyu, Zhejiang. After graduating from Central University in 1932, he taught at Qingdao University, Yanjing University, and Southwest Associated University in Kunming. From 1944 to 1947, he taught Chinese paleography at the University of Chicago in the United States and collected Shang and Zhou bronze artifacts scattered in Europe and America. Upon returning to China, he served as a professor at Qinghua University and was transferred to the Archaeological Research Institute of the Chinese Academy of Sciences as a researcher in 1952. Professor Chen Mengjia focused on ancient religion, mythology, and rituals while studying paleography, and later shifted his research to ancient history and archaeology. He made significant contributions in oracle bone studies, the dating of Southwest bronze artifacts, and bamboo slip research, earning high regard from academic circles both in China and abroad. For this publication of Professor Chen Mengjia's works, in addition to his major works such as A Summary of Oracle Bone Inscriptions from Yin Ruins, The Bronze Age of the Western Zhou, A Supplement to Bamboo Slips, General Treatise on the Book of Documents, A Study of the Western Zhou Chronology, Annals of the Six States, A Contemporary Interpretation of the Tao Te Ching, Chinese Paleography, and An Outline of Chinese Ancient Text Studies (English manuscript), we have also collected and compiled his published and unpublished articles into Chen Mengjia's Literary Works (prose collection) and A Collection of Chen Mengjia's Academic Papers.
