Features: History is serious, yet it is also compassionate. Today, Chinese teachers are once again at the forefront of historical choices, presenting an image of a marginalized group transitioning to a dominant group to the world. In the 26 years since the reform and opening-up, China's economy has achieved rapid development, improving people's material living standards. At the same time, people's concepts, values, and trends have changed, leading to confusion. Teachers, as a group in society with cutting-edge science and technology and high humanistic literacy, have become darlings of the economic market. In a society with increasingly fierce commercial competition, teachers' choices have become problematic: should they measure success by their ability to bring economic benefits, or continue to take pride in "having a thousand students"? Should they choose to join the tide of pursuing material life, or continue to stay dedicated to the humble but noble job of teaching and nurturing students? Han Yu, in his essay "On Teachers," stated: "A teacher is one who imparts knowledge, teaches skills, and resolves doubts." He clearly summarized the responsibilities of a teacher as: imparting knowledge, teaching skills, and resolving doubts. This means teachers must pass on knowledge and clarify doubts. This includes teaching students the basic principles of being a person and helping them resolve confusions about their life philosophy and values. In people's minds, teachers are the "engineers of the human soul," and the title "exemplary teacher" imposes higher moral demands on them. However, in today's society, negatively affected by the market economy, the moral values of some teachers have become distorted. Some lack a sense of dedication, fail to prepare lessons diligently, do not correct homework, or even abandon their posts to pursue "second careers." Some dislike their students, mock and scold them with harsh attitudes. Some turn schools into markets, treating students as consumers to enrich themselves. Some teachers have poor personal hygiene and rude behavior, using their teaching position for personal gain. In recent years, cases of teachers abusing, physically punishing, or even raping students in some regions have caused strong public and academic reactions, severely damaging the image of teachers. As a result, the traditional sense of social responsibility and dedication of teachers has gradually faded, while instrumental rationality has grown increasingly prominent, and value rationality has shrunk continuously. The quality of teacher ethics has a far-reaching impact.
