Features: History is serious, yet it is also compassionate. Today, Chinese teachers are once again at the forefront of historical choice, presenting an image of a marginalized group transitioning to a dominant group to the world. In the 26 years since the reform and opening-up, China's economy has achieved a miraculous rapid development, and people's material living standards have improved. At the same time, people's concepts, awareness, and value orientations have changed, leading to confusion. As a group in society with cutting-edge science and technology and high humanistic literacy, teachers have become darlings of the economic market. In a society with increasingly fierce commercial competition, teachers' choices have become problematic: should success be measured by economic benefits, or should they continue to take pride in "having students all over the world"? Should they join the tide of pursuing material life, or continue to stay dedicated to the humble job of teaching and nurturing? Han Yu, in his essay "On the Teacher," said: "A teacher is one who imparts knowledge, teaches skills, and resolves doubts." He clearly summarized the responsibilities of a teacher as: imparting knowledge, teaching skills, and resolving doubts. This means teachers must transmit knowledge and explain doubts. This includes teaching students the basic principles of how to be a person and helping them resolve confusions about their life philosophy and values. In people's minds, teachers are the "engineers of the human soul," and the title "role model for others" imposes higher moral demands on teachers. However, in today's negative impact of the market economy, the moral standards of some teachers have been distorted. Some lack professionalism, fail to prepare lessons diligently, do not correct homework, or even abandon their posts to pursue "second jobs"; some dislike students, mock and scold them, and treat them coldly; some turn schools into markets, turning students into consumer groups to generate income for themselves; some teachers have sloppy appearances and vulgar behavior, using teaching as a means for personal gain. In recent years, cases of teachers abusing, physically punishing, or even raping students in some regions have caused strong reactions in society and the education sector, severely damaging the image of teachers. As a result, the traditional sense of social responsibility and dedication of teachers has gradually faded, while instrumental rationality has expanded, and value rationality has. The quality of teacher ethics has far-reaching consequences.
